Korean memory giants Samsung and SK hynix’s memory chip inventories have dropped to as low as ten days, suggests a report from Business Korea. Samsung and SK hynix are at the heart of a historic shortage in the memory chip market as the demand from AI data centers continues to stress their production capacity. The report adds that the memory chip shortage could become worse in 2027 due to the launch of HBM4 products that are more capacity-intensive than their predecessors.
